St. Joseph University (SJU), located in Tamil Nadu, is a distinguished institution under the umbrella of DMI Foundations, Chennai, which was founded by Rev. Fr. Dr. J.E. Arul Raj in 1984. DMI Foundations is a philanthropic organization supported by the dedicated efforts of the DMI sisters and MMI fathers, with operations spanning 13 countries, including the USA, Germany, and Africa. St. Joseph University is part of an extensive network of schools, colleges, and universities managed by DMI Foundations, which prioritize not only academic excellence but also personal and social development.

To be a global leader in interdisciplinary education and research, rooted in Indian values and dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and a vibrant student culture across diverse fields, including medicine, technology, and social sciences; to address complex challenges and improve the quality of life for all, while equipping future generations to confront the most pressing global challenges such as climate change, health crises, technological disruption, and social inequality.

Chancellor’s Message
DMI and MMI are Congregations of Catholic Religious Sisters and Priests known for their selfless service to humanity in many parts of the world. Self respect through Self sustenance, Self sustenance through Capacity building, Capacity building through Knowledge based technical skills, Knowledge based technical skills towards respectable employment, and respectable employment towards the realization of one’s ability to market one’s own ideas, skills and products is our vision for those whom we serve.
To groom well-disciplined, humanly-motivated, intellectually-enlightened, technically-oriented citizens with stamina built in to face the changing world and a committed and strong spiritual base is our goal. All our educational and developmental services are oriented towards this goal which is to be achieved through the collective effort of consecrated Religious Sisters and Priests, committed Collaborators, dedicated Staff, receptive Students and all others concerned.
